Life Story

Aidan was born in 1979 in Auckland, New Zealand, the son of British parents, and lived in New Zealand until he was two years old. Upon returning to the UK, Aidan was educated at West House School in Birmingham and King Edward’s School, Edgbaston, where at the time over a third of pupils were supported by the Conservative Government’s Assisted Places Scheme. This enabled bright children from poor backgrounds to attend the best state schools and become a formative experience for Aidan as it showed the tangible importance of Government Policy.

Aidan left King Edwards in 1997 to go to St John’s College, Oxford University – Tony Blair’s old college. Whilst at Oxford Aidan became actively involved in the Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA), and the Oxford Union, speaking in debates and helping to run both societies.

After leaving Oxford, Aidan joined an international firm of Management Consultants, where he specialised in helping reform the Criminal Justice System. Since then he has delivered a large number of projects, working closely with government departments to help them deliver a better public service. He has worked with some of the most senior civil servants across Whitehall on the most high profile public sector projects and has developed an insiders understanding on how government actually functions in this country.

Aidan moved to Fulham in 2003, buying a flat on Epirus Road, in which he still lives. In 2006 he was elected as a Councillor for his own Ward, Fulham Broadway. He is currently working as a Special Adviser to Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Minister for Police Reform.

Hammersmith & Fulham Conservatives

Aidan joined the Conservative Party in 1997 after winning his school’s Mock Election and on going up to Oxford became Vice-Chairman of the Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA) as well as sitting on the Standing Committee (Governing Body) of the Oxford Union, the world’s oldest debating society. This enabled Aidan to invite MPs and Government Ministers to debates and pursue his love of debating in the Chamber.

In 2004 Aidan was selected to stand for Fulham Broadway Ward. Two years later on May 4th 2006, after two years hard campaigning, he was elected first out of all the candidates with 1682 votes on a swing of 8.5%.

Local Interests

Aidan is an LEA Governor of St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School in Fulham, a role he thoroughly enjoys due to his passion for education. He is a also an active member of the Hammersmith Society and the Fulham Society.

Aidan likes being out and about in Hammersmith and Fulham – his favourite pub venues are the Harwood Arms, the Salisbury Tavern and the Atlas on Seagrave Road. For pizza it is difficult to beat Napule on Fulham Broadway, or for a smart dinner the River Café.

Aidan also plays tennis at Queens Club and Frisbee on Parsons Green and can often be seen at the David Lloyd gym in Fulham Broadway.

Campaigning for YOU in Hammersmith & Fulham

Aidan is a dedicated local campaigner in improving the lives of the residents of Hammersmith & Fulham. Fresh from his successful campaign to remove the abandoned lorries off the North End Road, he is now focussing his efforts on opposing the westward extension of the Congestion Charging zone, TfLs plans to send the C1 bus down Blythe Rd and the West London Tram.
Aidan experiences at first hand the same public services used by local people. He travels almost exclusively by tube and bus around the area, although he can often also be seen on his treasured Vespa scooter. Two years ago Aidan was very ill with viral meningitis and was treated extensively in local hospitals, so he is very familiar with local healthcare issues.

Aidan's Political Priorities

Aidan holds core Conservative values.  He joined the Conservative Party because he believes in freedom and choice.  Most important to him are policies which promote less government interference in people’s lives and empower people to choose what is best for them. he believes if you give people freedom and responsibility, they will grow stronger and society will grow stronger as a result. His key political priorities are to:
