Aidan was born in 1979 in Auckland, New Zealand, the son of British parents, and lived in New Zealand until he was two years old. Upon returning to the UK, Aidan was educated at West House School in Birmingham and King Edward’s School, Edgbaston, where at the time over a third of pupils were supported by the Conservative Government’s Assisted Places Scheme. This enabled bright children from poor backgrounds to attend the best state schools and become a formative experience for Aidan as it showed the tangible importance of Government Policy.
Aidan left King Edwards in 1997 to go to St John’s College, Oxford University – Tony Blair’s old college. Whilst at Oxford Aidan became actively involved in the Oxford University Conservative Association (OUCA), and the Oxford Union, speaking in debates and helping to run both societies.
After leaving Oxford, Aidan joined an international firm of Management Consultants, where he specialised in helping reform the Criminal Justice System. Since then he has delivered a large number of projects, working closely with government departments to help them deliver a better public service. He has worked with some of the most senior civil servants across Whitehall on the most high profile public sector projects and has developed an insiders understanding on how government actually functions in this country.
Aidan moved to Fulham in 2003, buying a flat on Epirus Road, in which he still lives. In 2006 he was elected as a Councillor for his own Ward, Fulham Broadway. He is currently working as a Special Adviser to Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Minister for Police Reform. |
